Our QTL mapping of resistance against scald (causal pathogen: Rhynchosporium commune) in Vlamingh/Buloke confirmed a previously detected large-effect QTL on chromosome 4H (resistance from Vlamingh) and detected a small-effect QTL on chromosome 7H (resistance from Buloke). This work was helpful in demonstrating the utility of a new seedling-stage assay method for the detection of minor-effect loci.

In another population, we were able to attribute the durable resistance of Schooner to a locus on chromosome 7H.
